IOWA Test Results

Each year our students in Grades 2 and 4 take the IOWA Tests of Basic Skills.  The results of these tests show us how our children are learning and progressing.  Here are the results:

* This year’s Grade 2 class scored slightly below the District’s percentile ranking nationally in all areas of Language Arts.

* In the area of Mathematics, our Miller Grade 2 students scored below the District’s average percentile ranking nationally in all areas.

* Our Miller Grade 4 students ranked the same or higher in the Percentile Rank of Average Students Nationally, compared to the District, in the following areas:  Vocabulary, Comprehension, Spelling, Capitalization, Math Problems/Data, Science and Maps and Diagrams.

* Our current Grade 4 students showed good growth between Grade 2 and Grade 4.  Growth was shown in all areas of reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics.  The largest growth areas were in Spelling and in Math Concepts/Estimation and Problems/Data.

I will be meeting with the teachers to further examine these test results and to plan in-service training for specific curricular areas.
