PSSA Results….Miller Students are Achievers!

The results of the 2005 Pennsylvania Assessment for last year’s Grade 3 and Grade 5 classes arrived shortly after the start of the school year.

So…how are the Miller students doing in Math and Reading?  At BOTH the 3rd and 5th grades, 94% of our students scored in the “Proficient” and “Advanced” range in Mathematics.    Last year’s Miller Fifth grade class was FIRST in the District with our math scores.  Our Third grades were “tied for second place!”  “Go Math” is alive and well at Walter Miller School!

In Reading, 78% of last year’s Grade 3 class scored “proficient or above.”  75% of last year’s Grade 5 class scored “proficient or above.”  Our students scored well above the State’s average for Reading, and were comparable with the District’s average.  Our last year’s Grade 5 Reading Average for “students testing proficient or above” was higher than in the previous four years.

These test scores certainly indicate that our students are learning and achieving!  Smart, hard-working kids, dedicated teachers and cooperative parents who support the educational process all contribute to a successful formula here at the Walter Miller School!
