Special Honor for Walter Miller School
Stop by
the Miller library to view the
Neshaminy Kids Club
flag that “circled the earth” in the
Space Shuttle Discovery.
Thanks to the efforts of
Mrs. Kathy Snyder,
previous Miller Kids Club Supervisor, a specially designed Kids Club Flag was
selected to travel aboard the space shuttle “Discovery’s” flight, launched from
the Kennedy Space Center on
July 26, 2005.
This was the 114th
flight of the space shuttle. A “miniature American Flag” and commemorative
photos were also presented to the Miller Kids Club program for “....their
support of America’s Space Program and dedication to excellence in education!”
Keep Saving Aluminum Can Tabs!
The Walter Miller 3rd Graders have
gotten off to a wonderful start with their aluminum can tab collection!
If you haven’t yet heard, they are helping Carl Casper, a 15 year old
Cobalt Ridge resident, who is collecting tabs to raise money for the Ronald
McDonald House charity.
Please continue to assist this effort by saving aluminum tabs from soup,
soda, and dog food cans, etc., and sending them into school with your child.
Your help is truly appreciated!

MATH AND READING
SUMMER CAMP!
Once again this summer, Neshaminy School
District will be offering a Math and Reading Summer Camp for elementary
students. This camp will be offered
to pupils currently in grades 2, 3, and 4 who meet certain criteria.
The purpose of the camp is to provide extra instruction in reading and
math for eligible students. Our goal
is to assist these students and to help prepare them for the 2007-2008 school
year as well as for next year’s PSSA testing.
The camp will be held from Monday, July 2
through Friday, August 3. Camp will
be closed on Wednesday, July 4. Transportation
will be the responsibility of the families.
Families of children who meet the criteria will receive invitation
letters.
Available slots will be filled on a first
come, first served basis. Pupils are
expected to attend all five weeks to ensure maximum benefit as well as
appropriate assessment and tracking.
We feel fortunate to be able to once again
offer this wonderful opportunity to some of Neshaminy School District’s
elementary students.
Keep Your Eyes
Open...
We are asking that the Miller
community be vigilant and call the Middletown Township Police any time you see
our school being damaged or misused.
The District is able to view recordings from the cameras posted outside
the school. All vandals will be
prosecuted.
Please help by:
¨ Calling
the Middletown Township Police when you observe vandalism or criminal behavior.
¨ Supervising
your children when they play at the school yard.
DO NOT send your children up to the Miller School unsupervised.
¨ DO
NOT send your elementary, middle, or high school aged children to the school
yard to skateboard or ride motorcycles or all-terrain vehicles.
It is ILLEGAL.
¨ Know
where your Middle and High School children are “hanging out”.
They
are not permitted to smoke, drink or use drugs on the Miller School Property.
Camera recorders are monitoring this behavior and violators will be
prosecuted by the local law enforcement agency.
AHERA Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act
Neshaminy School District has engaged Eagle
Industrial Hygiene Assoc., Inc., to fulfill the requirements of the Asbestos
Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), 40
CFR
Part 763,
Subpart
E. This law requires that each Local Education Authority (LEA) engage EPA
accredited individuals to initially inspect and subsequently reinspect every
three years all student and staff accessed areas for the presence of both
friable and nonfriable asbestos containing materials (ACM) and to develop an
Asbestos Management Plan from the information developed from the building
inspections. All areas of our facilities were inspected for asbestos-containing
materials.
The Management Plan provides a description of the amount,
type, location and condition of all ACM found in these areas. The
Plan
also contains a detailed schedule of responses and activities for handling the
ACM. The Management
Plan is available for review by interested parents, faculty and staff in all
school offices during business hours.
Sincerely,
Joseph V. Paradise, Business
Administrator

School Watch Program
Last year Mrs. Chak had asked for your assistance in
putting an end to the vandalism that seemed to be plaguing our school. Over the holiday break, we again were faced with broken windows, graffiti
and damaged playground equipment. It is so discouraging and disheartening to
come into a school with broken glass in the library and foul language on
windows, walls and playground equipment. Please help us by:
